Thanks to the new PHEV technology, the 2023 Outlander PHEV boasts more power, better acceleration, and a larger 20-kWh battery, resulting in an increased EV range. This SUV will be powered by an Atkinson-cycle 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors to deliver a total of 259 horsepower. The new electric motor on the rear axle will produce 134 horsepower, with the front producing 114 horsepower.
The 2023 Outlander PHEV retains Mitsubishi's electric Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, which provides significantly better AWD responses than the typical gas options. It owes to employing powerful electric motors at each axle in place of the conventional transfer case paired with a gas engine.
